In 1980 I spent my first $150 on a TI 99/4a because I couldn’t afford an apple 2. Even in 1984 I remember being jealous of my girlfriends apple 2e. By 1986 My parents had a Macintosh, just in time for me to go off to college. Even that was a big sacrifice for my parents. This graph helps put that sacrifice into perspective. When I got married in 1990 one of the bonuses was Anne brought a sweet Mac SE/HD with a 20mb hard drive to the partnership. Her parents sacrifice… Now our kids have so many screens and computers in different form factors I hope they appreciate how lucky they are.
Yet again if you have a talent, almost any talent the Internet let’s you combine your talent with 10s, 100s or even 1000s of others to create something you never could create yourself. Crowdsourced software, books, companies and now music inspires me.
